Is it just me or have you also noticed the rise of gourmet popcorn in supermarkets and lunch places lately? Even Tyrells branched out from handcooked crisps to venture into this new snack domain. Like it or not, seems to me that gourmet popcorn is on the up. I looked at this briefly in the UK and the US before investigating health claims associated with this popular snack. The playlist was predominantly funk-driven this week as popcorn and funk are apparently BFFs. Who knew? Thinking out of the box, we talked about popping as in the form of street dance that originated in California in the 60s and 70s.  I had a popcorn themed treat for Chocolate in My Bag and went a bit Bollywood with this week’s Guilty Pleasure. Street food is so hot right now. I do a show about food and music and it’s taken me ages to get round to doing a street food themed show. Shocking, I know. Got there in the end today and explored street food joints in London to check out, the work of Petra Barran in founding Kerb as well as looking at what it means to be ‘street’. It was hip hop and soul focused affair today apart from the Guilty Pleasure and the Chocolate In My Bag was really rather delish. Check it here:
